Hometown Grill and Bar: Reviews & Ratings
Our first time here, sorry now it took so long to get here. The food was excellent; we had the tasting menu this week and enjoyed all our choices. Best choices; Artisan Greens, Rockfish with Risotto and Bread Pudding. Alexis was our server and did a great job; food was well paced. We look forward to coming back and bringing friends. *Just one small thing...dining room was quite warm. If you are heat sensitive dress light.
This area has been craving a place like Hometown Grill!! It's not what you're thinking ..nothing like Salisbury steak or Mac n cheese. it's an elevation for the pallet with creative recipes and a higher-end dining experience right in Lorton. Lorton Chic, great from scratch recipes, friendly staff who truly believe in the success of the place and their owner! The facilities are beautiful as is the food, a great spot for a girlfriend outing, group of friends or a date night! They have daily & weekend specials and a happy hour. Depending on your order, i can get a bit pricey. I imagine inflation and bloated grocery prices has a hand in that...and the fact I had seafood which is always more expensive. I have been here 3 times in 2 weeks primarily because of the firecracker (jumbo) shrimp ($14) and Kung Pao salmon bowl ($17). Both were absolutely delicious and the bowl with shrimp, or any protein, would be good too! Food and drink presentations are remarkable. I had a delicious old fashioned. During restaurant week, which started 19 AUG, 2022 and a ($35) menu. I tried the Calamari, the Artisan Salad, and a seafood pasta with shrimp and scallops and a parmesan reggiano sauce, of which I wasn't a fan. The super fresh artisan salad with homemade vinegarette was beautifully PHENOMENAL!! The seafood pasta sauce ($27) was thin, bland, and not cheesey and even after adding salt and pepper. The management was incredibly gracious and resolved my issue with a smile. I'm going to try brunch next! Recommend an all you can drink mimosa option so locals don't have to travel to DC. Support local!
I dined at Hometown Grill & Bar for my birthday. Original plans fell through but wow, I was not disappointed one bit! Our food was fresh and prepared well. I had the crab cake appetizer, filet entree, and brownie for dessert. I can be tough critic and I am not exaggerating when I say everything was delicious . Oh, and our waitress Stephanie was amazing. I’ll be back soon.
Updated: While Hometown continues to deliver a family-friendly environment with a wealth of offerings from beef, chicken, fish to burrito bowls, I must deduct a star for the decrease in ice cream that has changed the quality if their desserts. What was one a full scoop of ice cream has now turned into a skinny table spoon to accompany the colossal bread pudding and cookie skillet. Please see pics and evaluate for yourself the from the bread pudding pic from more than a year ago and the one I had yesterday. When your bill hits just shy of a 200 and you get dessert, you need to make sure the dessert hits with a bang and not a faint whisper. This can be easily remedied. Updated: So, I've been back for the Sunday brunch and am now a fan. I ordered the stuffed French Toast, and everyone else got the blueberry pancakes with eggs and sausage. The kids' meal French Toast came with potatoes, and I ordered a side of bacon, and it was enough to feed two toddlers. It's super delicious, and I am now counting the days until I can return for brunch again. I think I enjoyed the brunch experience more so than the dinner in comparison....likely because of the high quality to cost ratio versus the lumch and dinner offerings . First review: You'll like this place if you appreciate meals made from scratch as everything here is made from scratch. Also, the venue is relatively new, so all the staff have a glow and seem excited to be there. My server Rachel was exceptional and was one of the reasons I gave the establishment 5 stars despite some hiccups. I visited on a Tuesday lunch around 3 pm. There were about 3 other parties there. While the bar and large TV definitely scream a sports bar vibe, there is a more relaxed small group and couple's welcoming atmosphere. I neglected to ask if there was a kid's menu, but I didn't see any evidence of booster seats or high chairs.. Off the bat, the food was fabulous. I had been looking forward to trying out this spot and hadn't eaten out all month, so I dug in with a hearty appetite and a liberal wallet. Since I only had 6 muffin for breakfast, I got the fried oysters as an appetizer. Perfection. I got the Filet Mignon as my entrée cooked medium. The meat was tender and almost pulled apart as if it were slow cooked with a light brown sauce. It came with a hefty, tasty side of fries; but, at a 35 dollar price point, it needs to have another side or a veggie. I was told that the dinner serving of the same entrée came with broccolini. I'm not sure why they wouldn't provide that veggie at lunch if the price is the same. Moving on... I tried the "All the Feels" libation which I recommend but for 14 dollars, you'd expect a larger drink with more than just one liquor. I'm thinking 14 for a long Island iced tea. All the Feels has one liquor and flavor fillers. My partner got the short rib grilled cheese which was delicious and could almost feed two. We got two desserts: 1) the bread pudding and the 2) chocolate and caramel duet. The latter is a brownie served with a caramel ice cream. The bread pudding was out of this world. So, I'd give this spot 4.5 stars for the pricing of the two items I mentioned and also for a bit of the noise. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but we listened to an incessant banging for about 15-20 when we arrived...perhaps the chef was tenderizing meat or playing wacamole. At any rate, I'm a fan and look forward to visiting again within the coming weeks and trying some other offerings I eyed on the menu.
- This independent shop sits conveniently next to the residences, offering a variety of seating options to suit your preference. Regular tables provide a comfortable atmosphere, while high tables and a counter bar cater to a more social vibe. - Catch different sporting events on the televisions strategically placed throughout the high and counter bar areas, with some coverage spilling over to the regular tables. - The afternoons on weekdays offer a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding or catching up with friends. [Opinion] - Calamari: Crispy-skinned perfection with a refreshingly light texture. The accompanying dipping sauce is a delightful complement, and refills are readily available. - Fries: Be aware that the fries come seasoned generously with salt, but its price is so reasonable! - This spot is ideal for watching sports, socializing with friends, or celebrating a special occasion.
I will return. Wonderful service with a smile and patience. Great location in Fairfax Station On May 22th I returned to have Dinner . The service and atmosphere was awesome. The food was precious and passed the eye ball test. We sat outside and really enjoyed the evening.
Love this restaurant. 20 of us had lunch today. Each and everyone's dishes were yummy. They arranged an area where the whole birthday party guests could feel comfortable. Service was unbelievably good. From booking to setup menu, printing customized menu to table arrangement, taking order to serving with accuracy, everything was very smooth. Mr. Scott Perry, huge thanks to you for making our lunch special. You have the best stuff. They really took good care of all your guests.
Went again today 8/5/23 to try the 3 course Chef's Tasting Menu. We totally enjoyed it all and will do it again. Our server Bradley was absolutely the best as he met and exceeded all expectations. The only thing I would want to add is wine specials to pair with the Chef's Tasting Menu. Other than that, it was perfect!
